Description
Protecting and upgrading existing steel bollards
Steel bollards that have sustained minor impact damage, lost their finish or no longer meet site visibility requirements do not always need replacing. The Bollard Cover Kit slides over the existing bollard in minutes. It restores high-visibility colour coding and adds a layer of impact absorbing protection without the cost of full replacement. This makes it a practical choice for any site where the steel cores remain structurally sound.
The 1560mm cover kit fits steel bollards of 168mm and 219mm diameter. Where the existing bollard diameter falls outside these sizes, impact absorbing spacer kits accommodate all diameters. A secure and stable fit is achievable regardless of the bollard size on site.
Please note: Bollard cover kits are suitable for use on steel bollards that remain structurally sound. Before fitting a cover kit, the underlying bollard should be inspected by a competent person responsible for site safety. Cover kits are designed to address surface level issues including scratches, minor dents and faded finishes. The UV stabilised LLDPE construction means no further painting or repainting is required.
LLDPE construction with foam filling
Brandsafe manufactures the cover kit in the UK from UV stabilised linear low-density polyethylene. LLDPE offers flexibility, impact resistance and long-term colour retention without repainting. The cover is foam filled to cushion impact. This reduces the force transferred to the steel core and the surrounding floor on contact. When a cover sustains significant damage it replaces independently. The steel bollard beneath stays in service and maintenance costs stay low.
The system handles a temperature range of -40°C to 90°C. This makes it suitable for cold storage, freezer facilities and external environments as well as standard ambient warehouse conditions.
Push-fit modular assembly
Each 1560mm cover kit comprises three mid sections and one top cap. The sections snap-fit together and slide over the bollard without tools. Installation completes in minutes. The modular design means individual sections replace independently if one sustains more damage than the others. There is no need to replace the full cover kit after a single minor impact.
The cover stands at 1560mm high with an outside diameter of 210mm for 168mm bollards or 260mm for 219mm bollards. It carries 50mm diamond grade reflective bands for enhanced visibility in low-light conditions and at night.
Colour options and safety zone coding
The Bollard Cover Kit is available in six standard colour options. Each corresponds to a recognised warehouse and industrial safety zone designation. Black and yellow suits caution areas. Yellow and black suits the same application. Red and white identifies high warning areas. Green and white marks fire escape routes. Yellow suits general hazard marking. Black suits caution areas where a lower visibility requirement applies.
Custom colours are available on request. UV stabilised LLDPE means the finish does not fade or require repainting over the lifetime of the cover.
Where the Bollard Cover Kit is specified
The cover kit suits any site where existing steel bollards need upgrading for visibility, compliance or aesthetic reasons without the cost and disruption of full replacement. It is also specified on new installations where a colour coded, no-paint maintenance finish is required from the outset. Both applications deliver the same result.
It is compatible with the Brandsafe ImpactCORE, ImpactSAFE, Demountable Drop Core and Heavy Duty Potted bollard ranges and with any third-party steel bollard of 168mm or 219mm diameter.
Supporting compliance and duty of care
Under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employers must keep traffic routes clearly marked and maintain physical protection measures in a condition that continues to serve their intended purpose. A steel bollard that has lost its high-visibility finish or sustained surface damage may no longer provide the visual deterrent it was installed to deliver. That is a compliance gap.
The Bollard Cover Kit provides a fast, low-cost way to restore compliance and visibility across a site without taking bollards out of service. For facilities managers and H&S managers, maintaining high-visibility colour coding at known impact points demonstrates a proactive approach to site safety. It also supports the requirement to keep traffic routes clearly defined and managed. The result is better visibility, lower maintenance costs and a safer site overall.
