Amazon Leeds

Amazon Logo

Standing at 361,000 sq. ft. the new Amazon Leeds logistics centre is one of the largest developments at the Logic Leeds hub.

Brandsafe were brought in by Bowmer + Kirkland to provide impact safety systems throughout the building.

External Impact Protection

The site at Amazon Leeds had a number of different areas and requirements for impact protection systems.

Brandsafe was tasked with providing impact safety solutions to protect the HGV service yard, car park, gatehouse, hub offices, as well as the access ramps and loading areas.

We utilised the following items from our product range to cover this:

  • Armco 760 barriers at 3200mm post centres - supplied with handrail where applicable
  • Armco safety ends, safety corners and fishtail safety ends - all supplied in yellow for high-visibility
  • Demountable drop core bollards - 1260mm high and 1560mm high
  • 3M High-vis bollards - 1300mm high bollards with yellow polymer extension to 3000mm
  • HLGV and domestic wheel stops - moulded from recycled truck tyres for additional sustainability
  • 50mm and 75mm speed bumps
  • 75mm anti roll aways
  • Flexible delineators with electric and disabled car parking signage
  • Lamp post protection
  • Pedestrian handrail (galvanised) and guardrail systems

Internal Impact Protection

While the systems outside the building might be the first things that you'll see, there's plenty going on inside that requires protecting.

Brandsafe needed to provide impact protection for internal cabinets, LV panels and sprinkler systems, as well as the dock and access doors.

We did this through the use of the following products:

  • Bollards - 1000mm and 1300mm high, supplied with polymer cover kits and impactsafe baseplate pads
  • Secure cages supplied with digital locks
  • SEG+ 3 rail guardrail systems

Latitude Magna Park, Milton Keynes

GLP Logo V2

Magna Park in Milton Keynes is one of the most extensive distribution parks in Europe, with buildings occupied by leading retailers such as Waitrose, John Lewis, River Island and Amazon.

Brandsafe have been involved in a number of projects at this particular logistics hub, with the Latitude development the most recent of these sites.

The Project

Latitude 186 (Plot 330) at Magna Park in Milton Keynes is a 186,443 sq. ft. logistics warehouse and distribution centre, ideally situated adjacent to the M1. Readie Construction were appointed by Gazeley to deliver this project, with Brandsafe brought in to provide the finishing touches on-site.

We used our consultative approach and industry expertise to make sure that this building was covered both internally and externally from an impact protection perspective.

The Solution

Inside the warehouse itself, Brandsafe supplied and installed a range of column protection. Our PolyWRAP Column Protectors were specific to provide impact protection for the 12.5 metre high columns in the main warehouse area.

Forklift Impact Skirts were added to these column protectors in order to further protect the warehouse, its people and its vehicles from impact damage.

Additionally, we also needed to safeguard the HGV Service Yard. Brandsafe achieved this by supplying and installing the required number of HGV Wheel Stops. The strength and high visibility of these wheel stops mean that pedestrians and vehicle drivers alike will benefit from their installation.

The Result

A safer workplace, internally and externally, with sustainable and cost-effective impact protection systems provided. The occupier's building, staff and vehicles are now protected as a result of this work.

M&S Distribution Centre, Bradford

Marks And Spencer Logo

Marks & Spencer are a high street retailer. The distribution centre is vast and, within the building, they had installed a three-floor mezzanine to increase capacity.

The Challenge:

Every mezzanine has to have an edge rail as standard. However, at this site, they are operating pump trucks, which brings an added dimension of safety risk. The challenge here was to create a safety solution that would make the mezzanine safe for people, pump trucks and products to operate on safely.

The Solution:

Brandsafe was able to design and install a bespoke system for this site, a unique 3-in-1 mezzanine edge protection system, which included:

  • A 2.4m high fencing edge, along with a handrail, to comply with safety regulations
  • A low-level Armco barrier system, incorporated within the bespoke system, to prevent the pallet trucks from driving into the fencing and spilling over the edge

The Result:

A huge benefit to M&S was the cost and time we were able to save them, as we provided a complete solution, which meant a single-sourced combined solution, rather than having to work with multiple suppliers.

The end result was a bespoke system, fully tested and compliant with safety standards and regulations, so that M&S can operate confidently and safely across the three mezzanine floors.
